Visa Savings Edge is a program sponsored by Visa that gives small businesses discounts on purchases at partner retailers. It’s a great way to get an additional discount on some of the purchases that you would already otherwise make at stores like Staples, Chevron, National Car Rental, and many different hotel partners. In fact, most of the hotel partners offer a 5% discount on your stay.
Here is a list of some of the best discounts offered by the SavingsEdge program.
Partner | Discount |
---|---|
Staples | 1% |
Chevron | 1% |
Wingate by Wyndham | 5% |
Auto Zone | 2% |
Texaco | 1% |
Red Robin | 1% |
Buca Di Beppo | 2% |
La Quinta | 5% |
Travelodge | 5% |

What The Visa Savings Edge Is a Good Deal
Pure and simple this is a stackable discount! You can combine this discount with a plethora of other offers to get an even bigger discount on your purchase. Let’s take a Staples purchase for example.
With the Visa SavingsEdge you get a 1% discount on any $200 or more purchase. If you make your purchase with your Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Cash card you will earn 5% cash back. In addition, if you make your purchase online you can get 3% cash back by clicking through TopCashBack. On top of that you will also earn 5% back in Staples Rewards if you are a member of their rewards program. All this does not even include any coupons or other discounts you might find. Let’s take a look at your total discount haul.
- Visa Savings Edge – 1%
- Chase Ink Card – 5%
- Cash Back Portal – 3%
- Staples Rewards – 5%
Your total combined savings is 18%, and I didn’t even include a 10% off coupon that Staples frequently sends out to members of their email list.
How Do I Get Discounts At Visa Savings Edge Partners?
1. You must enroll and register your Visa credit card with Visa Savings Edge here.
2. Find merchant offers on their site here.
3. Shop at the retailer and pay with your registered Visa card.
Things To Keep In Mind
Some of the offers have restrictions that you must qualify for. For instance, the Staples discount is only valid if you purchase $200 or more in a single transaction. The hotel discounts require you to make your booking directly on the hotel website or over the phone (bookings through an online travel site like Expedia, Orbitz, or Priceline do not count). National Car Rental and Alamo requires you to spend at least $100 on your rental, regardless of the size of the car.
Bottom Line
The Visa SavingsEdge is a great program to get a bonus, stackable discount on many products and services you are going to buy anyway. There are a lot of partners (many more than the Amex Open program). While the discounts are not high enough for me to go out of my way to plan purchases around, I would highly recommend signing up and collecting the free cash back as it comes.
