I recently refinanced my mortgage and needed some documents notarized. To my surprise I found out that if you are a SunTrust customer (meaning you have a checking or private wealth management account), then you can get free notary services at any SunTrust Bank location (assuming that location has staff that can notarize documents).
How To Get Free Notary Services at SunTrust
To get your documents notarized for free at SunTrust Bank you should first call your nearest branch. You can find a list of branches here. When I got my documents notarized there was only one notary public available, so they told me to come in at a time when that individual was free.
When you go to the branch make sure to bring your SunTrust ATM Debit card as they will check to make sure that you are a current customer before proceeding with notarizing your documents.
Tips Before You Go
Call the branch and make an appointment if possible. Not all staff at the branch are notary publics. In fact, once I just walked in without making an appointment and the manager told me that I was lucky because he only had two staff members who could notarize documents, but if I had come in 30 minutes later they would not have been available.
As with all notary services make sure you bring multiple forms of identification (e.g. drivers license, birth certificate, social security card, passport).
We have just received our final papers for our loan modification.. When I spoke to someone from that department I asked if you had a mobile notary as I was told you did. She said to email
mobilenotary@suntrust.com. The loan is for my father and I am his only
child and POA .My dad is 93 years old and I really did not want to take him out of the house in this weather. So I was hoping I could get the services of one of your mobile notaries. The loan number is 300-188-0388.. These papers I have to be received by you no later than January 17 th. . So this is very time sensitive. Please respond ASAP.
